MINiJTES
CITY COUNCIL
MARCH 27, 1996
The Planner reported that the Planning Commission
suggested that the I-P Zoning be extended to align with
Vanderbie.
Scalze pointed out that there are houses in the area
which would be affected by the rezoning.
Fahey pointed out that it is the expectation of the
people living along Al1en Avenue that the property to
the north would remain residential. Fahey felt it
would be an imposition to rezone this area, and he
would not support it.
Another option which the Council discussed was
extending the I-P zoning east to Edgerton, and south
only as far as the powerline easement, using the
exposure to the freeway.
Pedersen suggested that if the I-P zone is extended to
this degree, there is no reason to rezone the McCumber
property.
Scalze pointed out that there are residential homes
along County Road D west of Edgerton.
Fahey suggested that the homes could be a part of a
redevelopment project.
Knudsen pointed out that'the powerline is a natural
buffer for the area. However, the McCUmber property
directly abuts residential.
Pedersen pointed out that there is commercial property
across the street as well as the freeway.
Morelan agreed that the powerline and Edgerton 5treet
would make a natural boundary for the zoning.
After further discussion the Council felt that the I-P
zoning should not extend east of Vanderbie nor south of
the powerline.
The Planner pointed out that if the McCumber property
is rezoned, it will be a legal non-conforming use.
Scalze suggested that the word "consider" be taken out
of the reference to rezoning the McCumber property.
The City Planner pointed out that the direction is to
retain the single-family zoning on the north side of
Demont abutting Savage Lake.
9
