MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 24, 1996
with the pole barn on his property.
Scalze pointed out that the pole barn has been in
existence for at least 20 years, and likely predates
the ordinance.
The Planner pointed out that the 1,000 square foot
limitation applies to total accessory/garage space on a
property. Therefore, would include Mr. Battista's
existing garage space as well as the building proposed.
The Planner pointed out that while Mr. Battista is
proposing the additional space for storage purposes,
eventually the property will be sold and a structure
this large opens up the question of what the space will
eventually be used for.
The Administrative Assistant indicated that the figures
included in her April 24th report, include existing
garaqe, space as well as accessory space which was
approved.
Fahey expressed concern with the 300 amp service
proposed, as well as the basement and attic space.
LaValle pointed out that Battista is proposing a three-
level building which would have approximately 1,944
square feet on each level. Morelan noted that
Battista's existing garage space is 26 feet by 28 feet
on two levels, for a total of 1,456 square feet.
There was no one from the general public wishing to
comment further on this matter.
Battista reported that since frost footings would be
necessary for the structure, he thought he might as
well go a little further and put in a basement level.
This way there would be no problem with the floor
breaking up.
LaValle pointed out that the problem is only pushed to
the bottom level.
Upon motion by Morelan, seconded by Fahey, the public
hearing was closed.
Morelan asked if the property abutting the Battista
property was developable.
The City Planner replied that he believed it was.
There is some question about wetland area, however, it
appears there is adequate area to subdivide the land
7
