MINUTES CITY COUNCIL MAY 22, 1996 public input as it can on this document. Morelan stated that he would like to meet with the neighborhoods to show people what the Council's vision is for the City is. Fahey pointed out that the City has been working on the Comprehensive Plan update for a long time and has had a lot of discussions based on input obtained at various meetings. Fahey stated that unless the City is dealing with something controversial, he did not think neighborhood meetings were necessary. Fahey stated that he favored holding a public hearing on the Comprehensive Plan update. The City Planner indicated that attendance at neighborhood meetings is usually minimal unless there are controversial issues being discussed. The Planner indicated the need for neighborhood meetings depends on the neighborhood and how much value would be gained in holding neighborhood meetings. Fahey suggested the Council can obtain the same input at a public hearing. The Planner replied that the fear would be if a large group of citizens attended the public hearing, the Council may not be able to hear everything people would want to say. Morelan suggested a solution would be to hold two public hearings - one for the east side of the freeway and one for the west side. Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION N0. 96-5-125 - CALLING TWO PUBLIC HEARINGS TO CONSIDER ADOPTION OF THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE, THE FIRST TO BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 26, 1996 AT 6:30 P.M. AND THE SECOND TO BE HELD WEDNESDAY, JULY 10, 1996 AT 6:30 P.M. The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan. Ayes (5) LaValle, Morelan, Fahey, Scalze, Pedersen. Nays (O). Resolution declared adopted.
