MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />MAY 22~ 1996 <br />Lakeside Court water main project with the <br />understanding that water service for their property <br />will come from that water main when it is installed on <br />Lakeside Court. Also, should the Hedlund property need <br />to connect to Keller Parkway water main in the future, <br />the property owner would be responsible for paying a <br />connection charge equal to the Keller Parkway water <br />main assessment plus accrued interest and any costs <br />associated with providing a service connection to the <br />main. <br />Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved <br />its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 96-5-129 - DELETING THE REQUIREMENT THAT <br />MR. AND MRS. HEDLUND SIGN A STATEMENT INDICATING <br />SUPPORT FOR A LAKESIDE COURT WATER MAIN PROJECT AS A <br />BASIS FOR DELETING THE KELLER PARKWAY WATER MAIN <br />ASSESSMENT BASED ON THE RECOMMENDATIONS AS CONTAINED IN <br />THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S MEMO DATED MAY 17, 1996 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. <br />Ayes (5) Fahey, LaValle, Morelan, Pedersen, Scalze. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />Morelan asked how the City determines where utility <br />connections come from for corner lots. <br />The City Administrator suggested he review this issue <br />and prepare an addendum to the City's assessment policy <br />addressing this question. <br />TOBACCO The City Council reviewed information regarding <br />REGULATION what some other cities are doing to regulate the sale <br />of tobacco. Fahey indicated he was not interested in <br />placing more restrictions on how City businesses do <br />business. Fahey felt some responsibility fell on <br />parents and individuals, and pointed out the City <br />already has some restrictions in place. Fahey <br />suggested that unless there is an enforcement problem, <br />he was not interested in adopting additional <br />restrictions. <br />Pedersen asked why other cities are adopting more <br />stringent regulations on the sale of tobacco. <br />Fahey pointed out some cities ban self-service displays <br />of tobacco products, some require cigarette vending <br />machines to be in view of the vendor, and some cities <br />ban vending machines altogether.
