MINUTES CITY COUNCIL JUNE 26, 1996 examples of regional commercial development. Neighborhood commercial means customers come from the surrounding area to shop. Pedersen indicated that there was not enough land to attract a reqional commercial business to develop in this area. Fahey stated that the property will remain B-3 and instructed the Planner to ohange any references within the Comp Plan accordingly. Len Notto stated that B-3 Zoning places too many restrictions on his property. Scalze felt it was the size of the property which restricts its uses. The Planner reviewed the southwest quadrant of the west side of the freeway. The Planner noted that the Comp Plan talks about maintaining the land use patters of the area, upgrading housing quality, and the likelihood of low-density sinqle-family residential development in this area. The Planner reported that another public hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, July 10th, at 6:30 P.M. to consider the Comp Plan update for the east side of the freeway. After that hearing, the Comp Plan update will be revised to include any chanqes the Council feels appropriate. The Comp Plan can then be adopted subject to revi_ew and approval of the Metropolitan Council. Once that is done, the City can consider whether or not any zoning changes are necessary. Fahey asked if there was anyone from the general public present wishing to comment on this matter. There were none. Upon motion by Morelan, seconded by Scalze, the public hearing was closed. Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 96-6-143 - TABLING ACTION ON ADOPTION OF THE COMPREHEN5IVE PLAN UPDATE PENDING FURTHER REVIEW, WITH ACTION TO BE TAKEN AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE JULY 10, 1996 PUBLIC HEARING ON THE LAND USE PLAN FOR THE EAST SIDE OF THE FREEWAY 6
