MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUI~Y l, 1996
Morelan stated that the City had to remain open on
these issues at this time, but at some point will have
to be prepared to let a developer know its position.
DeLonais asked if it would be better to wait until the
the RFP goes out and the City has some interested
developers.
Schroeder felt the narrower street was a better way to
show the street in the RFP. The City can always
accommodate something else if it needs to. Schroeder
pointed out that his firm can focus on developing a 13-
foot space to accommodate pedestrians. Schroeder asked
about the location of Middle Street, and whether or not
it should extend south of Little Canada Road.
Fahey indicated that Middle Street could be extended
later on based on development proposals.
Schroeder pointed out that median configuration would
be different depending on whether or not Middle Street
is extended.
LaValle suggested that left-turn lanes be put in for
now and medians later once development is known.
Scalze felt Alternative #4 made sense except for the
removal of 93 W. Little Canada Road. Scalze felt the
apartments might have some reservations about this
alternative given their bedroom windows would look out
at something.
Morelan stated that he liked
the added value of having 93
available for redevelopment
acquisition.
Alternative #4, and felt
W. Fahey felt the City
will be guided by what developers say about the Middle
Street location. Fahey also noted that the City has a
year before Little Canada Road reconstruction begins.
Scalze asked if there would be any savings in leaving
Middle Street where it is.
Schroeder replied that some dollars will be saved,
7
