MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AUGUST 14, 1996 <br />*Schedule review of appraisals of the other <br />properties in the area; <br />*Preparation of a Request for Proposal for <br />redevelopment of properties on the northeast <br />and southeast corners of the intersection of <br />Rice Street and Little Canada Road. City <br />commitment to assist in site control would be <br />a part of the RFP. <br />*Establish a subcommittee of Council Members <br />Fahey, Pedersen, and the City Administrator <br />to meet with owners of the Venetian Inn to <br />determine timing and relocation issues; <br />*Subcommittee to meet with other property owners <br />which may be effected to discuss their timing <br />and relocation issues; <br />*AUthorize Rusty Fifield to do a Tax Increment <br />Financing analysis for relocation of the <br />Venetian Inn to the northeast corner of Rice <br />Street and Little Canada Road. <br />Fahey pointed out that these action steps should get <br />some redevelopment activity moving in the Rice <br />Street/Little Canada Road area. Since the City now has <br />appraisals on the effected properties, it is possible <br />to proceed with these action steps. <br />Scalze indicated that staff should be commended for the <br />work they have done on this matter. <br />Mrs. Scalze introduced the followinq resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 96-8-194 - AUTHORIZING THE RICE <br />STREET/LITTLE CANADA ROAD REDEVELOPMENT ACTION STEPS AS <br />OUTLINED BY THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. <br />Ayes (5) Scalze, LaValle, Morelan, Pedersen, Fahey. <br />Nays (O). Resolution declared adopted. <br />CANADIAN Morelan indicated that on behalf of the City Council, <br />DAYS he would like to commend the Canadian Days Committee <br />for another outstanding Canadian Days Celebration. <br />Fahey agreed, and pointed out that the Mayor and people <br />of Thunder Bay are always impressed with the volunteer <br />efforts which go into putting on the Canadian Days <br />Celebration. <br />12 <br />
