MINUTES OF THE WORRSHOP MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LITTLE CANADA~ MINNESOTA <br />NOVEMBER 19~ 1996 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereo£ a workshop <br />meeting of the City Council of the City of Little <br />Canada, Minnesota was held on the 19th day of November, <br />1996 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located <br />at 515 Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Mayor Michael I. Fahey called the meeting to order at <br />7:00 P.M. and the following members of the City Council <br />were present at roll call: <br />CITY COUNCIL: Mayor Mr. Michael I. Fahey <br />Council Member Mr. Bob Pedersen <br />Council Member Mr. Jim LaValle <br />Council Member Mr. Steve Morelan <br />Council Member Mrs. Beverly Scalze <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Admin. Mr. Joel Hanson <br />Parks & Rec. Mr. Jim Morelan <br />Public Works Mr. Scott Tangen <br />Cable TV Prod. Mr. Greg Schroeder <br />1997 The purpose of tonight's meeting is to review the <br />BuDGET proposed 1997 Budget. The City Administrator pointed <br />WORKSHOP out that the preliminary net levy was certified at <br />3.5%. With adjustments made since that certification <br />occurred, the General Fund net levy increase is a 2.3% <br />which results in an increase in the City's tax rate of <br />just over .25%. There may still be some additional <br />adjustments that can be done prior to certification of <br />the final net levy. <br />The City Administrator reviewed additional revenue <br />sources for 1997, pointed out that approximately $2,000 <br />in revenue can be budgeted each year from recreation <br />non-resident and late fees. This revenue will be <br />posted in 1997 and subsequent years. There will also <br />be a one-time transfer of $6,500 to cover the amount of <br />these fees from previous years. <br />The Administrator proposed an increase in the pawn shop <br />license fee from $6,500 per year to $9,500. This <br />increase is based on the fact that Sheriff Department <br />costs in monitoring the pawn shop are estimated at <br />$7,800 per year. <br />Morelan asked if the City increased the license fee <br />last year. <br />1 <br />
