MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
NOVEMBER 19~ 1996
LaValle felt the numbers could be left in the budget at
this point, noting that the Council has not received
all the information necessary to make a decision. If
the Council decides not to go forward with these
projects, the money could be used for something else.
Fahey noted that under Parks & Recreation there is
money budgeted for Pioneer Park volleyball court,
Gervais Mill site amenities, handicapped playground
equipment and Pioneer Park parking lot improvements and
expansion.
Scalze asked if the parking lot expansion was for a
gravel base or for permanent improvements. Scalze
noted the reference to temporary and permanent
improvements in the budget document. Scalze asked how
many parking spaces will be added, and what was the
expenditure per parking space for permanent
improvements.
The Parks & Recreation Director indicated that he would
get this information from his office and return with it
shortly.
Fahey noted that Public Works is looking to replace the
1985 4WD truck. Fahey asked how many miles were on
this truck.
The Public Works Director was not sure of the mileage,
but noted that the truck has reached the end of its
useful life.
Morelan noted the $6,000 budgeted for paving of the
Public Works parking lot. LaValle questioned paving
the parking lot if the public works operation will be
relocated in the near future.
Fahey suggested that with all the other projects the
City is faced with, it will be some time before Public
Works is relocated.
The Public Works Director indicated that the paving is
being proposed for the Public Works yard area, and is
needed to address environmental issues with salt/sand
storage.
Morelan asked if there would be any trade-in value for
the 1985 truck. The Director estimated a$1,000 to
$1,500 salvage value.
There were no other comments or questions regarding the
9
