MINUTES CITY COUNCIL DECEMBER 18~ 1996 Morelan pointed out that there is a direct cost to the Sheriff's Department because of their responsibility £or monitoring this business. The Sheriff has estimated that cost at $7,74o per year. That is the best information the City has to work with, and Morelan stated that he would be uncomfortable in setting the fee for an amount less than that. Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 96-12-301 - SETTING THE PAWN BROKERS LICENSE FEE AT $7,000 ANNUALLY AND THE SECOND HAND GOODS DEALERS LICENSE FEE AT $300 ANNUALLY EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 1997 The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. Ayes (2) Fahey, LaValle. Nays (3) Morelan, Scalze, Pedersen. Resolution denied. Morelan stated that assuming the $7,700 cost is accurate, then he felt the pawn brokers license fee should be set at $8,000. If after further research, it is found there is a problem with the Sheriff's Department estimate, the fee can be adjusted later. Mr. Morelan introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 96-12-302 - SETTING THE PAWN BROKERS ANNUAL LICENSE FEE AT $8,000.00 AND THE SECOND HAND GOODS DEALERS LICENSE FEE AT $300.00 COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 1997 The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Pedersen. Ayes (3) Morelan, Pedersen, Scalze. Nays (2) Fahey, LaValle. Resolution declared adopted. There was no one present wishing to comment on the renewal of the pawn brokers license and second hand goods dealers license for Lincoln Pawn and Jewelry. Upon motion by Scalze, seconded by Morelan, the public hearing was closed. Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION N0. 96-12-303 - APPROVING THE RENEWAL OF PAWN BROKERS LICENSE AND SECOND HAND GOODS DEALERS LICENSE AS REQUESTED BY LINCOLN PAWN AND JEWELRY FOR 7
