MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 8, 1997
Scalze expressed concern about a small property being
developed with a very small building and a large tower
placed on that property. Scalze noted that a small
building will generate little tax revenue for the City
and a tower will generate no tax revenue. Fahey felt
the issue was indirectly addressed with the fall zone
requirement since the taller the tower it is likely
that the parcel will be larger.
Pedersen suggested that it may make sense to allow a
taller tower in some areas where the land is low.
Fahey suggested that that issue be addressed if it
arises.
The City Administrator indicated that he will draft an
ordinance for Council review at its next meeting. He
pointed out that the ordinance will require conditional
use permits for commercial towers, increased
performance standards as are typical in other cities'
ordinances, prohibition on lighting and advertising
except as required by the FCC. He will also include
language addressing fall zone requirements. Antenna
locations on the City's water tower and as co-locations
would be permitted uses.
Once the Council has reviewed this draft, it will be
forwarded to the Planning Commission for consideration
and then to the Council for adoption.
There being no further business, the workshop meeting
was adjourned at 7:26 P.M.
j,_y~s_c ~'~-ctxX~~~~~.W
MiCHael I.
