MINUT~S <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />MARCH 26, 1997 <br />I 1°i ~tnd subject to the use of tl~e framework st~ucture being limited to the <br />time period commencing April 1" and ending November Is` of each year. <br />Truman Howell, Truman Howell Architects, representing Knox Lumber, <br />appeared before the Council. Howell reported that the planthouse <br />structure has been eliminated from the request. Knox is requesting <br />approval of the permanent framework structure. This structure will have a <br />height of 14 feet, the top of wl~ich will be covered with a shade mesh. <br />This mesh will extend from the top by two feet along the sides of the <br />structure. The shade mesh will be removed during the winter months. <br />Howell reported that plants will be displayed in the area durin~ the <br />planting season. The mesh protects the plants and keeps the area from <br />gettin~ too hot. The structure itself will consist of 3-inch circular steel <br />pipes, and will be freestanding from the bui(ding. <br />Morelan asked if it would be feasible to remove the structure during the <br />winter months. <br />Howell replied that it would be very labor intensive to remove the <br />structure, as the pipes will be set into concrete. <br />Scalz.e asked if there was anyone from the general public interested in <br />commenting on this matter.
