MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEE'CING <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />LTTTLE CANADA, MINN~SOTA <br />APRIL 16, 1997 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a special meeting of the City <br />Council of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the 16°i day <br />of April, 1997 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 <br />Little Canada Road in said City. <br />Mayor Michael I. Fahey called the meeting to order at 8:25 P.M. and the <br />following members were present at roll call: <br />CITY COUNCIL: Mayor Mr. Michael I. Fahey <br />Council Member Mr. Jim LaValle <br />Council Member Mr. Steve Morelan <br />Council Member Mr. Bob Pedersen <br />Council Member Mrs . Beverly Scalze <br />ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Mr. Joel Hanson <br />City Attorney Mr. Tom Sweeney <br />Admin. Assistant Mrs . Kathy Glanzer <br />NORTfI STAR Mayor Fahey reported that the purpose of tonight's special meeting is to <br />ESTATES - discuss the North Star Estates variance application from parking setback <br />VARIANC~ standards which has been submitted to Ramsey County. <br />REQU~ST <br />The City Administrator reported that the City recently adopted an <br />ordinance regulating mobilehome parks. He further repor[ed that Noi~th <br />Star Estates has made application to Ramsey County for a variance from <br />the parking setback standards contained in State StatuYe. On Monday of <br />this week, the County held a public hearing on this variance request. At <br />that hearing there was a question about tlie City Administrator's ability to <br />offer the City's position on the issue since the Council had not discussed it <br />in formal session. The Administrator reported that the position he offered <br />at the public hearing was based on previous Couneil discussion of the <br />issue. The County h1s requested that written comments on this matter be <br />offered by Friday. Therefore, the special meeting has been called this <br />evening to update the Council, and provide the oppoirtunity for the Council <br />to offer its official position. <br />The Administrator reported that Statutes require a 10-foot setback between <br />a mobilehome and the parking area for the adjacent mobilehome. The <br />variance request submitted by North Star ~states lacked specificity in that <br />it did not contain any distances. North Star Estates' concern appears to be <br />
