d. Through Lots. Fences on the back side of principal building located on a through lot, <br />adjacent to an arterial or collector roadway, shall not exceed six and one-half (6.5) <br />feet in height. <br />e. Shoreland Overlay District. Fences may be permitted anywhere lakeward of the <br />required principal structure setback, except within the shore impact zone, provided <br />they do not exceed three and one-half (3.5) feet in height. The Zoning Official or <br />their designee may authorize fences up to six and one-half (6.5) feet in height that <br />extend into the shore impact zone when a property abuts a walkway, park, or similar <br />facility. <br /> <br />2. Non-Residential Districts <br />a. Front Yard. Fences in front yards or any yard adjacent to a public road right-of-way <br />or road easement shall not exceed four (4) feet. <br />b. Side and Rear Yards. Fences in non-corner side and rear yards shall not exceed eight <br />(8) feet in height, except fences bordering residentially zoned properties, which shall <br />not exceed six and one-half (6.5) feet in height. <br /> <br />D. Swimming Pool Fences <br /> <br />1. All pools shall be enclosed with fencing at least four (4) feet high, but not exceeding six <br />and one-half (6.5) feet high to prevent uncontrolled entrance of all persons. Such fence <br />shall have self-closing and self-latching gates with provisions for locking and shall be <br />completely installed prior to the filling of the pool. <br /> <br />E. Prohibited Fences <br /> <br />1. Electric fences shall not be permitted. <br />2. Barbed wire fences shall not be permitted except as provided in Special Purpose <br />Fences. <br /> <br />F. Temporary Fences <br /> <br />1. Temporary fences not exceeding four (4) feet in height may be installed without a <br />permit for seasonal or protective purposes, such as directing snow, shielding gardens, <br />landscaping, or lawn areas from animals or weather-related damage. Such fences must: <br />a. Not be placed within five (5) feet of the front property line. <br />b. Be maintained in good condition and not present a safety or maintenance hazard. <br />c. Abide by Corner Sight Triangle standards outlined in Section 915.030 <br />d. Be removed within one hundred twenty (120) days of installation, unless otherwise <br />approved in writing by the Zoning Official. <br />e. Be removed or repaired if determined to be a nuisance or otherwise not in <br />compliance with the provisions of this section. <br /> <br />G. Special Purpose Fences <br />
