MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING <br />CITY COUNCIL AND PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION <br />LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA <br />May 28,1997 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the City Council and the <br />Parks and Recreation Commission of the City of Little Canada, Minnesota was held on the <br />28th day of May, 199'7 in the Conference Room of the City Aail located at 515 East Little <br />Canada Road in said City. <br />Acting Mayor Beverly Scalze presided and called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. <br />and the following members were present at roll call: <br />CITY COUNCIL: <br />Acting Mayor <br />Council Member <br />Council Member <br />Council Member <br />Ms. Beverly Scalze <br />Mr. Steve Morelan <br />Mr. Jim LaValle <br />Mr. Bob Pedersen <br />PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />Ms. Karen Johnson, Chair <br />Ms. Pat Ables <br />Ms. Muriel Bianchi <br />Mr. Roger Christensen <br /> ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Mr. Joel Hanson <br /> Parks & Recreation Director Mr. Jim Morelan <br /> Park Consultant Mr. Bill Sanders <br /> Recording Secretary Ms. Jennifer Aasen <br />COMMISSION'S Johnson said at the last workshop with the Council, they discussed using Park Land <br />INVOLVEMENT Acquisition Funds to acquire property for the open space proposed on the north side of <br />WITH Round Lake. She said that the Commission would like to discuss their role as far as <br />ROUND LAKE planning this area. The Director said that the Commission had looked at the streetscape <br /> plan, which shows some garden and open space areas, and this had started the discussion <br /> on their involvement. Morelan asked if the plan was final. The Administrator replied that <br /> the County was ready to finalize the design, but the City was waiting for more input from <br /> the developer. <br />Scalze said that the concentration has been on land acquisition, and that the Administrator <br />could update the progress in that area. The Administrator pointed out the properties that <br />have been acquired on Little Canada Road (20 West, 52 East and 34 East), and the <br />properties whose owners have expressed interest in selling (2 East and 56 West). The <br />Administrator said that the City would like to close on the properties by June 30`h to avoid <br />real estate taxes for next year. He said there is a possibility of acquiring more properties <br />once the improvement hearings for the road are held and residents realize what will be <br />happening with the street. He said that the two homes on the east end are not as affected <br />by the road, and would likely remain for some time. <br />
