The Engineer's estimate had been $51,500. The Administrator
IMPROVEMENT pointed out that the City En~ineer has contacted property owners in the
area. Of the 8 property owner, 2 indicated they were in favor, 4 were
opposed, and 2 could not be reached.
The City Administrator pointed out that the water main would eliminate a
dead end main. The Administrator also pointed out that the County is
plannin~ to reconstruct Centerville Road in the year 2001, and an option is
to combine that project with a water main improvement at that time. The
Administrator also pointed out that the well at 3003 Centerville Road is
failing. If the water main project is delayed, a long service run could be
brought into this property to provide water service from the existing water
main in the area. An assessment amount wou(d have to be calculated for
doing this, with the amount comparable to what the assessment would
have been if the improvement were put in.
Scalze noted that the property owners of the two northerly properties are
in favor of the improvement, and asked if a service line could be run to
10
