MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />OCTOBER 8, 1997 <br />The Chief reported that there was a serious fire at Montreal Courts <br />Apartments this past week, and if it had not been for early detection this <br />fire could have resulted in loss of life. The Chief requested that the <br />Council consider making mandatory improvements in the area of early fire <br />suppression. <br />Fahey asked if the sale of Montreal Courts was proceeding. <br />The City Administrator reported that he has contacted the prospective <br />buyer. They are still working on the purchase and are aware that the City <br />will require a detailed analysis of a fire suppression system in the building <br />if tax exempt financing is requested. <br />VACATION Fahey opened the continuation of the public hearing to consider the <br />OF PORTION vacation of a portion of Viking Drive as requested by Mr. Thomas <br />OF COUNTRY Jungmann. Fahey noted that the Public Works Director is recommending <br />DRIVE that the City retain existing utility easements through the property. <br />Mr. Jungmann reported that he has looked at the location of the sanitary <br />sewer and is comfortable proceedin~ with the vacation. <br />There was no one from the ~eneral public present wishing to comment on <br />this matter. <br />Upon motion by Fahey, seconded by LaValle, the public hearing was <br />closed. <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOI.UTIONNO. 97-10-237-APPROVING TFIE VACATION OFA <br />PORTION OF vIKING DRIVE ffiGHT-OF-WAYA.S RE~UEb'TED <br />I3Y MR. Resolution declared adopted. <br />
