MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />OCTOBER 22, 1997 <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOI. UTION NO. 97-10-252 - APPROVING THE REZONING OF <br />THE .SPRUCE STREET SITE AND THE RICE STREET SITE OF <br />THE ST. PAUL WATER DEPARTMENT PROPERTYFROM <br />GENERAL ]3USINESS (73-3) TO PLANNED UNIT DEVELOPMENT <br />(PUD) SU73JECT TO COMPLIANCE WlTH THE <br />RECOMMENDATION OF THE CITY PLANNER <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan. <br />Ayes (5) LaValle, Morelan, Pedersen, Scalze, Fahey. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />TEXT Fahey pointed out that in response to the request by U.S. West, the <br />AMENDMENT Planning Commission tabled action on the proposed text amendment <br />COMMERCIAL which would allow commercial antennae on existing public utility <br />ANTENNAE - structures and associated utility buildin~s to house equipment packages <br />U.S. WEST within all zonin~ districts until their November meeting. <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption <br />RESO7 (ITION NO. 9 ~ 10-253 - TA737.ING ACTION ON THE <br />U..S WEST REQUEST FOR TEXT AMENDMENT AI.LOWING <br />COMMERCIAL ANTENNAE ON EXISTING PU73LIC DTILITY <br />STRUCTURES AND ASSOCIATED UTII.ITY73UILDINGS WITHIN <br />AI.L ZONING DISTffiCTS UNTII THE NOVEM73ER 26, 1997 <br />COUNCIL MEETING <br />The foregoin~ resolution was duly seconded by Fahey. <br />Ayes (5) LaValle, Fahey, Pedersen, Morelan, Scalze. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />ARCHITECTURALFahey reported that Sign Crafters, representin~ Arby's Restaurant, <br />REVIEW - has requested the City reconsider the architectural components <br />ARBY'S for the Arby's site on Rice Street which were approved during September, <br />specifically that the City allow back-lit canopies on the building. Fahey <br />noted that both the City Planner and the Planning Commission have <br />recommended against the backlit canopies. <br />Mike Lawrence, Sign Crafters, reported that at their September 11'~' <br />meeting, the Planning Commission informed representatives of Arby's <br />that backiit canopies were not allowed on their building.
