OF THE <br />PAWN 13ROKERS LICENSE AND SECOND HAND GOODS <br />DEALERS LICENSE FOR LINCOLN PAWN & JEWELRY, 2750 <br />RICE STREET, I,ICENSE PERIOD JANUARY 1, 1998 THROUCH <br />DECEMI3ER 3I, 1998 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze, <br />Ayes (4) Morelan, Scalze, Pedersen, Fahey. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />PRESENTATION Mayor Fahey introduced Gene DeLonais, Chair of the City's Planning <br />BY GENE Commission, who has asked to make a special presentation to the City <br />DELONAIS Council this evening. <br />Gene DeLonais reported that he has been a resident of the City for the past <br />52 years. Many of his relatives were also residents of Little Canada as far <br />back as his great grandfather who came to Little Canada in 1848. <br />DeLonais reported that his ancestors can be traced back to France in 1641. <br />DeLonais reported that his great grandfather donated the land on which St. <br />John's Church is located, as well as sold the land on which St, John's <br />School is located to the public school district for $5.00. DeLonais <br />reported that many of the pioneers who settled the Little Canada came <br />either directly to this area or from St. Paul. Many moved on to settle <br />communities to the north. <br />DeLonais reported that there has been a lot of history made right here in <br />Little Canada because of the early settlement of this area due to the lakes. <br />DeLonais reported that the Minnesota Historical Society has many <br />displays and artifacts, but they do not have the genealogy that the Little <br />Canada Historical Society has. Ramsey County and White Bear Lake also <br />have their Historical Societies; and pointed out that Vadnais Heights and <br />Maplewood have contacted the Little Canada Historical Society for advice <br />on how to form a historical society. <br />DeLonais reported that the French Genealogy Society is lookin~ for a <br />home for 1761inear feet of information and would like to place this <br />information with the Little Canada Historical Society. The Little Canada <br />Historical Society currently has 190,000 names from 100 families in its <br />genealogy col(ection. <br />
