MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />FEBRUARY 25, 1998 <br />PRELIMINARY The Council reviewed the request ofMr. Dick Kimmes, developer of <br />PLAT - the Gilanderi Addition preliminary plat, and the recommendation of the <br />GILANDERI Planning Commission to table action on the preliminary plat for the <br />ADDITION Gilanderi Addition until the April 25°i City Council meeting. <br />Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOI. UTION NO. 98-2-35 - CONTINUING THE PU737.IC <br />HEARING ON THE PRELIMINARY PLAT FOR THE GILANDERI <br />ADDITION UNTII THE APRIL 25, 1998 RECUI.AR COUNCII, <br />MEETING AS REQUESTED BY MR. DICK KIMME.S AND AS <br />RECOMMENDED 13Y THE PLANNINC COMMI.S.SION <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. LaValle. <br />Ayes (5) Scalze, LaValle, Fahey, Morelan, Pedersen. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />SIGN VARiANCE Mayor Fahey opened the public hearin~ to consider an application <br />UNION 76 submitted by James Brandl, the owner of the Union 76 station at 300 East <br />Little Canada Road, for a variance from the Sign Ordinance re~ulating <br />sign area and number of signs. The Plannin~ Commission reviewed the <br />variance request and recommended approval. <br />More]an asked if Brandl was the current owner of Union 76 and whether <br />he would remain owner. Brandl replied in the affirmative to each <br />question. <br />Morelan asked if the City Planner was recommending approval of the <br />variance request based on past variance actions at this site. The City <br />Planner replied that the variance would be consistent with past actions. <br />However, the given the time period over which these actions have <br />occurred, the City would be free to disregard the past variance actions. <br />Morelan asked if the Planner had worked with the applicant to brin~ the <br />variance request more into compliance with the Code. The Planner replied <br />that he had and indicated that the original proposal was for higher signs. <br />This request was modified prior to presenting it to the Planning <br />Commission and the City Council. <br />There was no one present from the general public wishing to comment on <br />this matter. <br />2 <br />
