MINUTES CITY COUNCIL MARCH 11, 1998 Mayor Fahey thanked the Watershed for their informative update. LIONS CLUB Ray Hanson, President of the North Ramsey 500`~' Lions Club, appeared DONATION before the Council to present the City with a check for $1,600 toward the rOR BOCCE cost of constructing new bocce ball courts in one of the City's parks. BALL COURT Hanson pointed out that the Lions Club had previously donated the cost of the construction and regular maintenance for the courts at Garden Terrace Apartments. Due to increased participation in the sport, the City had been requested to construct additional bocce ball courts. Given that the City had not budgeted for this expenditure during 1998, the Lions Club was approached for a donation. Hanson reported that it is his understanding that the location of the courts have not yet been determined, but it is likely it will be Spooner Park. Hanson reported that the Lions Club has requested some sort of recognition for the donation. Hanson invited those present to the Lions Club's annual pancake breakfast that will be held on Sunday, March 22"`~, from 8 A.M. until 1 P.M. at The Venetian Inn. Roger Christensen, Chair of the Parks & Recreation Commission, accepted the $1,600 donation on behalf of the City and thanked the Lions Club for their generosity. Again, Christensen indicated that the location of the new courts has not been determined, but it is most likely it will be Spooner Park. Mr. Morelan introduced the followin~ resolution and moved its adoption: RESOI,DTIONNO. 98-3-47-AUTHORIZING THE CONSTRUCTION OF I30CCE I3A7.7, CDURTS IN A PARK LOCATION YET TO I3E DETERMINED The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze. Ayes (5) Morelan, Scalze, Pedersen, Fahey, LaValle. Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. Carl Helgeson thanked the Lions Club for their donation on behalf of the bocce ball players in the City. Helgeson also thanked the City and the Parks & Recreation Director for their efforts in this area. Mayor Fahey thanked the Lions Club as well statin~ that the courts will be a nice improvemert to the City's park system.
