MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />MARCH 11,1998 <br />• Watershed Management Plan <br />• Education <br />• Strategic Lake Management Plans <br />• Groundwater Management <br />• Water Quality & Bio Monitorin~ Pro~ram <br />• Habitat Improvement <br />• Construction Projects Permitting Program <br />• Project Maintenance <br />o GIS System <br />• Wetland Buffer Management Study <br />• District Administration <br />• Capital Improvements Pro~ram <br />• Natural Resources Board <br />Watson further reported that tlte Natural Resources Board has identified <br />potential 1998 projects as follows: <br />• Gervais Lake Shoreland Revegetation <br />• The Sod Farm or North St. Paul Urban Ecology Center <br />• Prairie Plantin~s or Wetland Restoration on a Commercial or <br />SchoolProperty <br />• Purple Loosestrife Inventory and Monitoring <br />e Various Field Trips, Continuing Education, and Networking <br />Watson reported that as part of the Gervais Lake Shoreland Project, the <br />Watershed will be holding a lecture series addressing the topics of <br />sustainable landscapes and shoreland revegetation. Mayor Fahey asked <br />that notification of this lecture series be placed on the City's Cable TV <br />channel as well as in the City's official newspaper. <br />Watson concluded by thanking the City for the participation of Dennis <br />Carson on the Natural Resources Board as well as that of Steve Lammer <br />fi~om the Gervais Lake Association. Watson reported that the Board wants <br />to serve as a resource to the community and recommended that any <br />questions or research projects the City might have in this area be referred <br />to the Board. <br />Bill Bartodziej, Natural Resources Specialist with the Watershed, updated <br />that Council on completed and upcoming projects in Gervais Mill Park. <br />Bartodziej again mentioned the Gervais Lake Shoreland Project and <br />lecture series. He further reported that the Watershed is pursuing grant <br />money from the Metropolitan Council to do the revegetation project. The <br />Watershed will be working closely with the Gervais Lake Association on <br />this project and will be discussing it with them at their March 315` meeting. <br />
