MINUTES CITY COUNCIL APRIL 22, 1998 since this has not been an issue within the City there was no need to legislate against it. Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOI, UflON NO. 98-4-96 - IN.STRUCTING CITY,ST,9FF TO 1)ETERMINE HOW OTFIER CITIE.S' ADDRESS TIIE ISSUE OF THE KEEPING OF NON-DOMESTICATED ANIMAI..S' The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Fahey. Ayes (4) Scalze, Fahey, Pedersen, LaValle. Nays (1) Morelan. Resolution declared adopted. PERSONNEL The City Administrator reviewed the staff's recommendation that the POLICY - Personnel Po(icy be amended to require mandatory life insurance coverage LIrE for City employees. INSURANCE Morelan indicated that he does not like the idea of making this coverage mandatory. Morelan also pointed out that some employees are on the $9 plan, while others are on the $12 plan. The City pays $9 per month toward this coverage. Morelan asked if consideration has ever been given to the City payin,~ the full cost. Scalze pointed out that tl~e cost is $12 per month now, but there is no guarantee it will remain at the $12 rate. Morelan pointed out that it would cost the City an additional $27 per month to pay for this life insurance coverage. The Administrator suggested that this issue could be looked at during budget time. Fahey suggested that the City would have to look ii~to the life insurance benefit as part of the total compensation package. Fahey felt that the benefit package provided to City employees was liberal compared to private business.
