MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MAY 27, 1998
The Parks & Rec Director indicated that he has discussed these fees with
nei~;hboring communities and found that the fees vary depending on the
services provided. Some cities may provide all the field maintenance, for
example. In this instance, the ,Director indicated that he would
recommend a nominal fee that would recoup the City's direct costs. The
Director indiclted that he would have to discuss with Mr. Skrypek the
types of services that he would like the City to provide.
Fahey suggested that the issue of the tournament policy as well as a fee
schedule be brou~ht back to the Council for action at a later time.
Mr. Morelan introduced the followin~ resolution and moved its adoption:
I2fiS01, UT/ON N0. 98-5-129 - APPROVING THE USE OF PIONEER
PARK FOR A FUND-RA]SINC TOIIRN~1 MENT TO ]3E FIEI,D ON
.JUI Y l8 AND I9, 199813Y PAUL SKRYPEK SUI3JECT TO
COMPI,lANCE WlTH THE PROVI.SION,S CONTAINED IN THE
DR,9FT TOURNAMENT USAGE PO77CY, AND SUI3.IF.CT TO ANY
I%URTAEI2 RES'1'RICTIONS WHICFI CITY STAFF MAY FEEI, ARE
NFCES.SARY, SUI3JECT TO SU73MISSION QF THE APPROPRIATE
IN,S'URANCE CERTIFICATES, AND .S'UI3JECT TO
ESTAl37,ISFIMENT OFANAPPROPRIATE FEE I3ASED ON WHAT
OTHER CITIES CtlARGL POR THIS TYP~ OF USE.
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by I'ahey.
Ayes (3)1V[orelan, raltey, Scalze.
Nays (2) LaValle, Pedersen. One of the items they
would lil<e to ptiiblicize on tl~is page is the Concerts in the Park series.
Fahey pointed out that the City h~s an extensive notification system and
cunently uses both the Review and the City's Cable TV channel. Fahey
noted that there would be a inonthly cost for a web pa~e as well as
maintenance costs.
Pedersen felt that at some point the City will have a web page, but whether
the right time is now or two years from now, he was not sure. Pedersen
suggested that staff reselrch tl~e costs of establisl~in~ and maintaining a
weU page.
13
