MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 24, 1998
LAKE Mayor Fahey thanked Lake Owasso Residence Volunteer Council for their
OWASSO generous donation of $5,900 toward handicapped-accessible doors for the
DONATION Historical Society addiYion.
GILAND~RI Mayor Fahey noted that Mr. Did< Kimmes, the developer of the Gilanderi
PRELIMINARY Addition plat, has requested that consideration of this preliminary plat be
PLAT tabled until tlte Au~ust 26, 1998 regular Council meeting. Mr. T{immes
has requested tlte additional time to work on drainlge 1nd street design
issues.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOI, (IT[ON N0. 98-6-T 47 - CONT/N(1lNG THE PUI3LIC
FIEARING ON TFIE GII,ANDEIUPREI IMINARYPLAT (INTII. TFIE
ADGUST 26,1998 RErUI.AR COUNCII, MEETINC; AS
RE~ UESTED 13Y MR. DICK KIMMEb'
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan.
Ayes (4) Scalze, Morelan, Fahey, LzValle.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
AMENUM~NT Mayor Pahey opened the public hearing to consider the application for
TO CUP - Amendment to a Conditional Use Permit for outdoor voileyball at
GORDIES' Gordies' Place. It was noted that the original CUP allowed outdoor
PLAC~ volleyball for four nights per weel<. Gordies' is requestin~ tl~at it be
allowed outdoor volleyUall 6 nights per weel< 1s well as the ability to
conduct a couple of volleyball tournlments durin~ the year. Fahey
pointed out that the City lias received several letters in support of the
request. He also noted thlt the I'lannin~ Commission has recommended
a~proval subject to screeniu~ ofthe volleyball court.
The City Planner reported Yhat the Zoning Ordinance requires screening
between commercill ai~d residentill uses with fhe intent to mitigate any
conflicts between those uses. Tl~is req~iirement is commonly applied
where there may be potenYial for caiflict. The Planner indicated that in
this situation it may »ot be possible to screen the entire use given the
height of the adjacent condos in rel~tion to the volleyball court. However,
it may be possible to add landscaping to soften the view. The Planner
sug~ested tl~at screei~ing would be most effective along the west side of
the volleybl(1 court, which has the most exposure to the condos.
2
