MEETING ANI) RECONUENINC AS TFIE CITY'S E'CONOA~IC DEVELOPMENT A UTKORITY The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. Ayes (5) Scalze, LaValle, Pedersen, Morelan, Fahey. Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOI.UTION NO. 98-6-I1- LNITIATING ACQUISITION OF TFIE CII~I2IN PROPERTY I,OCATED AT 2N22/2826 RICE STREET The fore~oing resolution was duly seconded by Pedersen. Ayes (5) L1V111e, Pedersen, Morelan, F1hey, Scalze. Nays (0). ResoluCion declared ldopted. Morelan asl<ed if these resolutions initiated acquisition of the Guerin property, but did not necessarily mean the City would acquire it. The City Attorney replied that the resolutions allow the offer ofjust compensation, and if the pro}~eity owner declines the offer, t~he City ca~~ proceed with condemnaYion. Morelan asked if the G~ierin Family is aware of this. The City Administrator reported that on March I 1'~' he had discussions with Lee Guerin who indicated that l~e expected the City to purchase the property. The City made an offer at that time, and the Guerin Family mlde a counter-offer. Given that the two offers were far apart, the Guerin Family indicated that they expected eminent domlin to be the sol~rtion. Based on the environmental analysis of the site, on Jtu~e 10'~' another offer was made to the Guerin Family, wlio again counter offered. Again, tl~e Guerin Family commented that they expected it wouid take eminent domain to get the issue resolved.
