MINUT~S <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JULY 22, 1998 <br />Morelan sug~ested th~t the Cify should begin m1i1<eting the northern <br />parcels now 1nd not wait until the lcquisifion of'the Guerin property is <br />finalized. <br />The City Attorney pointed out that the relocation of tenants can take at <br />least 90 days. Secondly, it will tal<e 120 dlys to acquire title Yo the Guerin <br />property. The Attorney 11so pointed out that the City has the option of <br />leasing the propeirty to the existing tenants once Yhe ac~uisition is <br />fi~~alized. <br />Fahey asl<ed if the ten<ints can w~ive the 90-d1y time period. The <br />Attorney replied thlt they could. <br />Morela~l pointed out ChaC it will be I20 d<tys to acquire title and another 90 <br />days to relocate tenants. A project wo~ild Y<ilce longer than 210 days to put <br />to~ether; tlierefore, Morela~~ felC thlt the City should begin marketi~~g the <br />northern sites now. <br />The City AdminisCr~tor reported th~t he believes Chris Moarn will be <br />presenting a developmenC proposal for the northern site ii~ about three <br />weel<s. l~ahey sug~ested thlt Moarn be informed that unless he presenYs <br />something soon, the City wili begin Co solicit other tlevelopers. <br />The Administrator stiig~ested that if the CiCy does not see something <br />within the next 30 days, fhen it should explore other options. <br />Morelan acl<nowledged the feelin~ that the theater project is close and the <br />City should continue to ~ursue that option. He pointed out, however, tl~aC <br />this project has been close for x long time and there has been little acYivity <br />on the }~art oi'Cinemarl<. <br />The Administr~tor reportecl thaC he has discussed with Cinemark the need <br />for surveys ~nd environmental reviews before the City be~ins to acquire <br />~rope~~ty. Cinemarl< has ~ci<nowled~e this need ~nd indicated that they <br />wi(1 call on Friclly with a Cimet~ble. <br />Fahey suggested that Cinemlrk be informed if there is no development <br />agreement and lease agreeinent within tlie next 30 days, City will explore <br />its options.
