MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 14, 1999
*APPROYAL OFANAMENDMENT TD ROUND LAKE TRAIL
TOWNHOME DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT AND A UTHORIZING
THE MAYOR AND CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO EXECUTE ON
BEHAI,F OF THE COUNCIL;
"APPROVING THE VOUCHERS.
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. LaValle.
Ayes (5) Morelan, LaValle, Pedersen, Fahey, Scalze.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
LEGAL The Mayor and Council reviewed staff"s analysis of the issue of
NEWSPAPER publication ofCity Council minutes. Based on that analysis, Fahey
DESIGNATION suggested that the City dispense with the publication of these minutes and
begin mailing copies of minutes to those interested in receiving them.
Scalze agreed that the mailing of minutes should be done on a trial basis.
If it doesn't work, the City can a~ain begin to publish minutes.
Fahey asked if interested parties could ~et on a list to receive minutes or if
they would have to request copies as they desire them. The City
Administrator replied that the system can work both ways. Those
interested in receiving minutes on a re~ular basis would have their names
placed on a mailing list. Those interest in receiving minutes periodically
would call the City Center with their request.
Pedersen indicated that he has read the Maplewood city newsletter that
contains a summary of City Council actions. Pedersen suggested that
minutes could be published in summary form as another option.
The City Administrator suggested that staff determine the cost of a
summary publication and present this information to the Council at its
next meeting.
It was the consensus of the Council to act on the legal newspaper
designation at this time, but to table action on the issue of publication of
minutes.
Mr. LaVal-e introduced the following reso(ution and moved its adoption:
RE.SOI UTION NO. 99-I-5 - APPOINTING THE LII,I.IE SUI3URI3AN
NEWSPAPERS AS THE CITY'S LEGAI, NEWSPAPER FOR 1999
AND TABLING A DECISION ON WHETHER OR NOT TO
CONTINUE WITH PUI3I,ICATION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
