The first item discussed
was trails, and Bianchi indicated that the Commission feels strongly about
not only creating new trails, but also getting existing trails in good
condition. As a result, a trail subcommittee of the Commission was
formed which looked at trails as well as grants which were available for
upgrading existing trails and constructing new trails.
Smith reported that the sub-committee has identified two grants at this
point. The first is the National Recreational Trail Fund Program, and the
Council has on its agenda this evening a recommendation to authorize this
~rant application. The application is for the improvement of existing trails
in Spooner Park. The application is for $94,000 in improvements. Given
