MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 22, 1999
fire. Fahey thanked St. Jude on behalf of the City for their commitment to
the community.
RIC~ STIZE~T/ The City Administrator reported that Sherman Rutzick has expressed
LITTLE CANADA interest in sellin~ his property in the Rice Street/Little Canada Road area
ROAD to the City for $2 per square foot. While the price is attractive, the
R~DEV~LOP- Administrator questioned the source of funds the City would have for this
MENT acquisition. Rutzick has also indicated that he would obtain an appraisal
on the property to determine any value over the $2 per square foot. He
would then gift that value over to the City and has also requested a letter
threatening eminent domain on the site. Rutzick also requested first right
of refusal for the development of senior housin~ on this property.
The Council discussed the proposal and agreed that the price was a good
one. However, the consensus was that at this point redevelopment efforts
should be concentrated north of Little Canada Road as well as along
Country Drive and on Rice Street near County Road C.
The Administrator suggested that the Council could hold off on a decision
for a couple of weeks to see if anything develops with the redevelopment
of the Rice Street/Little Canada Road area south of Little Canada Road.
There is currentiy a development group trying to put together a project.
ADJOURN Mr. Morelan introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOI, UTION NO. 99-G-166 - ADJOURNING
The fore~oing resolution was duly seconded by Fahey.
Ayes (4) Morelan, Fahey, Scalze, Pedersen.
Nays (0).
