MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 11, 1999
Morelan asked if the City Administrator was aware of any difficulty developers
of new construction were having meeting parking requirements. The City
Administrator pointed out that the City was informed that its parking
requirements were too low for a theater development. He also noted that
DaVern Construction was having difficulty with parking requirements for their
site on Rice Street. However, that issue related to the finishin~; of the lower
level of their office space.
Morelan indicated that it appears from the Planner's report that, in general, the
City's parkin~ requirements are working.
Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTIONNO. 99-8-202 -ACCEPTINC THE CITYPI,ANNER'S
REPORT RELATIVE TO THE CITY'S PARKING REQUIREMENTS,
ADOPTTNG THE RECOMMENDATION THAT THERE BE NO CHANGE
TO PARKINC REQUIREMENTS FOR AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE.S AND
.STORAGE USES, AND CONTINUING FOR FURTHER DISCU.SSIONAT
THE AUGUST 25, 1999 COUNCII. He noted that the first
picture shows that the City's open and outdoor stora~e is not properly screened
as it is visible from the 35E. The second picture shows that the driveway access
to the City Gara~e exceeds the maximum curb cut of 24 feet. The third picture
showed that the parking was not striped in the Garage parking lot. The fourth
picture showed that the City's stora~e of dirt piles was visible from Country
Drive. Valento noted that he understands that the functions the City performs
from the City Gara~e are necessary, and he wanted the City to continue to
operate as they have been. His point was that the businesses in Ryan Industrial
Park also have important functions to perform and should be able to operate
their businesses.
