MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AUGUST 25,1999 <br />McCumber pointed out that the City is not allowing the Buetow use to <br />continue. The City Administrator indicated that the use can continue. <br />However, outdoor storage requires a CUP. Given that the property cannot <br />be screened from the public right-of-way, the City denied a CUP for <br />outdoor storage for this site. <br />Buetow indicated his option of bring in semi-trailers to store his <br />equipment and materials. Buetow felt that as long as the trailers were <br />moved, they would be allowed. <br />Morelan pointed out that the City's (ong-term plan is to have the site <br />redevelop as something that is more compatible with the surrounding area. <br />There is no one looking to demolish the buildin~s. <br />Buetow suggested that he and his attorney meet with the City Planner to <br />discuss his options. <br />Scalze suggested that before a public hearing is called to consider the <br />rezoning, that the Planning Commission look at the properties and make a <br />recommendation to the Council. It was suggested that the Planning <br />Commission look at the options of R-1, R-2, RB, and B-1 for this site. <br />Mrs. Scalze introduced the followin~ resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESQLUTIONNO. 99-8-227-REFERRING THISMATTER TO THE <br />PI.ANNING COMMI.SSION TO REVIEW THE CONCEPTS OF R-1, <br />R-2, RB, AND 13-1 ZONINC FOR THE I3UETOWAND McCUMBER <br />PROPERTIES AND MAKE A RECOMMENDATION TO THE <br />COUNCIL FOR A ZONING WHICH WOULD BE APPROPRIATE <br />AND CONSISTENT WITH THE CITY'S COMPREHENSIVE PI.AN <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan. <br />Ayes (5) Scalze, Morelan, Pedersen, Fahey, LaValle. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />The City Attorney noted that there appears to be an issue relative to non- <br />conforming use. He noted that the outdoor storage that currently exists on <br />the Buetow property is a prohibited use given the lack of a CUP to allow <br />this outdoor storage. Other uses that were (egally established woutd be <br />grandfathered in should the properties be rezoned. <br />PRECISION The City Administrator felt that the City should be able to negotiate a <br />TREE voluntary sale for the Precision Tree property.
