MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 25, 1999
PROPERTY worked on is that of a relocation plan so that the business can continue
ACQUISITION to exist ln Little Canada. There are a couple of sites that Precision Tree is
interested in. However, these sites are zoned Industrial Park (I-P).
Therefore, issues such as building construction materials and outdoor
storage and screening need to be addressed by the Council.
Scalze noted that the sites suggested are on Spruce Street near South
Owasso Blvd. and suggested that building materials requirements must be
complied with given compliance with these requirements by other
properties in the area. The Council felt that any outdoor storage would
have to be screened.
The City Administrator reported that Precision Tree has looked for
buildings in Ryan Industrial Park. There is only one available, but it is in
need of repair and the price is high.
The Planner noted that outdoor storage is limited in the I-P District to an
area 75% of the size of the building. This stora~e would require a CUP.
Fahey pointed out that the City adopted the higher standards of the I-P
District for a reason and questioned why the Council would want to take a
step back from those standards. Fahey also pointed out that the City needs
to take action on this property acquisition, and suggested that the stafF
need not take too much responsibility for putting together a relocation
plan. Precision Tree was put on notice when they purchased the property
that the City had a future interest in seeing the area redeveloped.
The City Administrator indicated that he would like to keep working to try
to assist Yrecision Tree in a relocation. However, it that cannot be
accomplished, the eminent domain process will need to be commenced at
the next Council meeting. A relocation consultant will also need to be
retained.
Fahey noted that the sites being considered have not developed as I-P
sites, and suggested that perhaps there are reasons for this. The City
Administrator indicated that soil conditions may be a factor.
Fahey suggested that the Administrator continue his discussions with
Precision Tree at this point, and bring the matter back for consideration in
two weeks.
Mrs. Grolhowski indicated that they were aware of the City's interest in
redevelopin~ their property. She reported that over the years they have
looked at locations within Ryan Industrial Park, but have found none that
work. Grolhowski reported that they have been in business in Little
25
