MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 27,1999
Upon motion by Morelan, seconded by LaValle, the public hearing was
closed.
Mr. Morelan introduced the following ordinance and moved its adoption:
ORDINANCE NO. 495 - AMENDING SECTION 903.110. E. OF THE
LITTLE CANADA CITY CODE, KNOWN A.S THE ZONING
ORDINANCE, 73Y PROVIDING FOR ONE ADDITIONAL WA7,7.
SIGN ON CORNER LOTS IN THE 13-2, 13-3, AND 13-4 DI.STRICTS
The foregoing ordinance was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5) Morelan, LaValle, Scalze, Pedersen, Fahey.
Nays (0). Ordinance declared adopted.
CUP FOR Fahey opened the continuation of public hearing to consider the
CITY GARAGE - Conditional Use Permit for open and outdoor storage of materials as an
3100 COUNTRY accessory use at the City Garage located at 3100 Country Drive. The
DRIVE Planning Commission has recommended approval ofthe CUP.
The Public Works Director reported that he has found a steel fabric
material that he will install on the gate to the stora~e area to provided the
required screening. He also noted that the wood chip pile is located on a
separate parcel of property. That property is currently zoned I-1 and the
proposal is to rezone it to Public
The Zoning Administrator reported that in addition to the property on
which the City Garage is located, there are two adjacent parcels owned by
the City. The City Garage property is zoned Public, while the two other
parcels are zoned I-l. These two parcels were acquired by the City for
drainage purposes through a tax forfeiture proceeding. Therefore, if the
City Garage property were ever sold, this property could not be sold
unless the City obtained an unrestricted title for the property.
Fahey suggested that if storage of the wood chip pile is allowed under I-1
zoning, then the zoning should be retained as I-1 rather than rezone to
Public.
It was pointed out that outdoor storage requires a CUP in an I-1 District.
The City Administrator indicated that the proposal would be to amend the
Public District standards to allow storage of a wood chip pile as an interim
use, and then rezone this property to Public.
It was noted that the first action item is the Conditional Use Permit for the
City Garage to allow open and outdoor storage.
