MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
NOVEMBER 10, 1999
recommendation for the Council's consideration at the November 22"d
workshop meeting.
Council reviewed the Water & Sewer Capital Replacement Account.
Scalze expressed concern about the monies bud~eted for the development
of a new Public Works facility, and suggested that there should be Council
discussion of this issue prior to the budgeting of these fund.
The City Administrator indicated that funds were budgeted for in 2000 for
land purchase given that there are fewer and fewer sites available in the
City for this type of facility.
Fahey suggested that bud~eting the money implies that a decision has
been made. LaValle agreed that budgeting the dollars may be premature
at this point, and noted that there may be properties within Ryan Industrial
Park which come available for this facility.
The City Administrator noted that the Council can always amend the
budget and indicated that the dollars were included in the bud~et strictly as
a matter of discussion for the Council.
Fahey indicated that he would need to be convinced that the current site is
not adequate and questioned that Little Canada needed a facility that is any
larger. Fahey felt the current location was a good one.
The Public Works Director reported that the dollars were included in the
budget as a starting point for discussions. He noted that there are some
inefficiencies with the current facility, and he would like to begin
discussions about addressing some of those things.
The City Administrator agreed that the budget document is being used to
start discussion, and pointed out that there has been no detailed space
ana(ysis done at this point.
The Public Works Director submitted to the Council an outline of some
discussion points relative to the Public Works garage issue for their
review. It was the consensus of the Council that this matter warranted a
Council workshop meetin~, and indicated that that workshop should be
scheduled for some time in early 2000.
There was no further discussion relative to the 2000 Budget. The City
Administrator noted that the Truth In Taxation Hearing is scheduled for
Thursday, December 2, 1999 at 7:00 p.m.
