In addition, MOM hurniture requested the Council consider allowing them
to exceed the temporary sign ordinance for upcoming sales and outdoor displays. The
City Council detlied IIOM's request to exceed the temporary sign ordinv~ce. It was ehe
Co~mciPs position of that time that the Interim Siguage needed to be similar to what
would be HOM's permanent signage design. (At the lime, HOM was unsure of who all
their tenants would be and needed additional time to design their permanent signage.)
Council also indicated that all signage referencing a sale or promotional event needed to
comply with city codes. I have attached a copy of the City Planner's report and Council
minutes for this discussion.
I-IOM Purnitw~e is requesting to renew their Interim Siguage Plan for one more year
starting September I5, 2009. I have attached the sketches HO~UI hurniture provided city
staff showing the location of the signs, as well as, sign message. Same as previously
approved, IIOM will have two banners affixed to the building boCh 500 square feet each
(10 ft. x 50 ft.) and one sock sign covering the existitlg pylon 'face that is 215 square feet.
City staff did discuss with the representatives aP HOM that their signage proposed shows
specific days of operation. Staff informed IIOM that this could be potentially viewed as
a temporary sign. 'T'he representatives at HOM have indicated that this is not temporary
~u7d this will be their bolo's of operation. IIOM is concerned That without displaying this
message, their customers will be coming to the location even when the store is closed.
The signage will be put uP and removed throughout the one year period as their sale
events occur.
City stafl'recon¢nTeuds appraval Gaserl orz past approvals aTUl due Po current economic
coutli~Pi~on~s.
