4

agreement and record it
formally with the County.
Width and Size No cap on width or size –
restrictions on where vehicles
can be parked.
For single-family, cap
driveway size as 40% of the
front yard area (between the
front edge of the home and the
street) – Provide
administrative exceptions of
up to 10%.
Materials Generally speaking, states
requirement for pavement (not
gravel/crushed rock) in several
sections.
Establishes uniformed
standards for what is meant by
pavement, allows permeable
materials, offers “discounting”
for their use.
Turnarounds Required for all properties on
a county road
May be used, use of them is
eligible for wider driveway
width.
Parking Pads Not in current code Term and standards for a
paved surface for
parking/storing vehicles on a
property. Needed definition as
patios are handled very
differently in our code.

3. Section 915.120 Exterior Storage – Residential (Ordinance 915)
This section now solely regulates storage in residential districts, disentangling it from the
parking requirements that were previously found here. Please review the table below to
understand what the major proposed changes are:
Standard Current Code Proposed
Permitted Unscreened Storage Long list of items including
mention of recreational
vehicles despite addressing
them specifically later in the
section.
Essentially same list but
removes misstatement about
recreational vehicles.
How Recreational Vehicles,
Trailers, Boats Can Be Stored
States in one place that such
vehicles must be parked on a
paved surface. In another
place, states that it can be
parked on unpaved surfaces.
Planning Commission’s
requested amendment was
allowing recreational vehicles
to be stored on unpaved
surfaces but needs to be
screened from neighboring
properties and streets.
Passenger Vehicle Storage - Moved standards around but
not substantively different

4. Section 915.170 Parking, Off-Street (Ordinance 915)
This section regulates off-street parking (driveway, parking lot, etc.) and has standards for all
districts in the city. Please review the table below to understand what the major proposed
changes are:
Standard Current Code Proposed
