Minnesota Department of Natural Resources
Division of Parks and Trails
500 Lafayette Road
St. Paul, MN 55155-4039

June 30, 2025

Steve Anderson, Parks and Recreation Director
City of Little Canada
515 Little Canada Road
Little Canada, MN 55117

Dear Steve Anderson,

RE: City of Little Canada, Project #C014-25-3B
Thunder Bay Trail Boardwalk Replacement

Congratulations,

I am writing in regard to the above referenced project that has been awarded a 2025 Local Trail
Connections Program grant totaling $250,000 To replace an aging and unsafe 253-foot section of
boardwalk.

Before you may access your grant funds, you must complete the documentation from Trail
Grant Project Required Documentation Checklist (attached). The checklist identifies the
required approvals from regulatory agencies and contains important information about contacts
and addresses for each of the agencies involved in the review and approval. If you have
completed a Project Memorandum for this specific project, you may be able to submit that in lieu
of some of the documentation requirements. Please contact me for more clarification. Once this
documentation is complete, the DNR and your local unit of government must enter into a
contractual agreement before you may begin accruing costs associated with your project.

Please remember that no receipts for reimbursement will be honored for your project that
precedes a signed contractual agreement between the DNR and your organization. This
agreement specifies the terms and conditions of project reimbursement. Do not incur any costs
that you plan to have reimbursed by the grant or included as part of the required cash
match until after a fully signed grant contract has been processed for your project. Be
advised that this grant will expire on June 30 2027; the project will need to be completed by that
date. Please notify us immediately if you are unable to complete the project by June 30, 2027.

All required forms for both environmental reviews and reimbursement forms for the
administration of your grant are available on the Trail Grant Project Administration webpage at:
www.dnr.state.mn.us/grants/recreation/grantee.html. Please also review the information under
the “Grant expenditures and requests for reimbursement” section for bidding, purchasing, and
reimbursement requirements.
