MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />SEPTEMBER 10, 2025 <br />ACCEPT DONATION FROM LITTLE CANADA FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />The Assistant City Administrator/Community Relations Manager stated that the Council is asked to <br />accept the donation from the Fire Department in the amount of $3 56,181 towards the purchase of the <br />new fire engine. She stated that the Fire Department conducts charitable gambling and, with the <br />donation tonight, will have contributed over $1,000,000 in the last five years to Fund 457. <br />The Fire Chief introduced the two Assistant Fire Chiefs present with him tonight. He provided <br />background information on the Fire Department's charitable gambling and how those funds have been <br />used to provide donations to different charity organizations and the City. He recognized all who assist <br />in the charitable gambling process and those who participate. He presented a check in the amount of <br />$3565181. <br />Mayor Fischer introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOL UTION NO. 2025-9-137 — ACCEPTING A DONATION FROM THE LITTLE <br />CANADA FIRE DEPARTMENT TO THE CITY'S FUND 457 (FIRE FUND) IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $3569181 FOR THE PURCHASE OF NEW FIRE ENGINE FOR THE <br />REPLACEMENT OF ENGINE 218 FROMMACQVEENEQUIPMENT, LLC <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Gutierrez. <br />Ayes (5). Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />Mayor Fischer accepted the donation. He thanked the Fire Department for its support and the <br />emergency services it provides to the community. <br />NEW ON -SALE AND SUNDAY LIQUOR LICENSES FOR BAILEY MALL EVENT CENTER <br />AT 2900 RICE STREET <br />The City Clerk stated that there is a new business coming to town at the event center, and they have <br />applied for on -sale and Sunday liquor licenses. She commented that all fees have been paid, <br />background checks were satisfactory, and staff recommends approval as presented, subject to final <br />submission of all required materials. <br />Mayor Fischer invited the applicant to provide information on his business. <br />Yia Yang, applicant, stated that they decided to pursue the opportunity when the previous business <br />closed. He commented that they are currently renovating the space to create an event space that would <br />be available for all people to rent. He commented that he is excited to bring his business to Little <br />Canada. <br />Malone asked if renters would bring in their own food and beverage or whether it would be provided. <br />Mr. Yang commented that the event center would provide alcohol and would have onsite catering as <br />well, but the renter could choose to bring in their own outside licensed catering. <br />Miller introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />91 <br />
