Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
STAFF REPORTS
PURCHASE OF NEW FIRE TRUCK
The Assistant City Administrator stated that the Council is being asked to authorize the purchase of a
new fire engine to replace Engine 218, as presented. She provided background information on Engine
218 and the plan for its replacement within the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). She provided
additional information on the cost and projected build time, noting that if they place the order now,
they would receive the order in 2029 or 2030. She provided information on the proposed funding,
which includes donations from the Little Canada Fire Department, and the recommended 50 percent
prepayment option.
The Fire Chief stated the specification and planning process for a new fire engine, which typically
takes about two years, and provided information on that process.
Miller recognized that the previous ladder truck did not last until the delivery of the new ladder truck
and asked if that was anticipated to happen again in this case.
The Fire Chief commented that the ladder track was a fluke, where the engine blew up. He stated that
Engine 218 is in very good shape, but it is hard to say how much they will get out of it upon resale. He
did not anticipate any issues with the current engine until the new one arrives.
Mayor Fischer commented that the engine replacement is within the CIP and is before them today
because of the crazy lead times for this type of equipment.
The Fire Chief replied that lead times were previously up to 18 months but are now up to 48 months.
Mayor Fischer recognized that locking in at this time ensures the lowest price as well.
Gutierrez introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOL UTION NO. 2 025-9-13 6 — A UTHORIZING THE PUR CHASE OF A NEW
ENGINE FOR THE REPLA CEMENT OF ENGINE 218 FR OM MA CQ UEEN
EQUIPMENT .9 LL C IN THE A MO UNT OF $113 31, 64 0, A PPR 0 VING A 5 0 %
PREPA YMENT A T CONTRA CT SIGNING, AND A UTHORIZING THE CITY
ADMINISIRA TOR TO SIGN THE PURCHASE A GREEMENT
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Kwapick.
Ayes (5).
