MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
D);CI';MB)JR IG, 2009
The City Administrator reported that neighborhood meetings have been
held on the proposed 2010 Street Improvements. Those discussions with
property owners were more favorable for some of the improvements than
others. However, the neighborhoods felt that all should go tiuough the
improvement hearing process given the chance that the City will receive
favorable bids for the improvements. If the bids received are not
favorable, they can be rejected and the projects would not move forward.
The Administrator also noted that the assessments for 2010 Improvements
would return to the 125 foot assessment maximum, but the Council could
direct that number to the 100 foot maximum used for 2009 Improvements
if it so deems at the time that bids are received.
Blesener noted that only one section of new water main is proposed. The
Administrator reported that the City would also be constructing a private
piece of water main off of the County Road B-21oop to provide fire
protection in Terrace Heights.
It was noted that 2009 Improvements were estimated at $3 million and the
low bid came in at $2.4 million. 2010 Improvement work is about half the
amount done in 2009. The Administrator indicated that it is hoped that the
bid market will be competitive for 2010. If it is not and the improvements
are not ordered, the plans will still have value when the work is done in
the future.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 2009-12-298 -ORDERING THE PREPARATION
OF FEASBILITY REPORTS FOR 2010 IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
AS RECOMMENDED BY CITYSTAFF
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Keis.
Ayes (4).
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
Mr. McGraw introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOL UTION NO. 2009-12-299 -ACCEPTING THE FEASIBILITY
REPORTS FOR 20107MPROVEMENTSAND CALLING
IMPROVEMENT HEARINGS AS FOLLOWS:
MONDAY, JANUARY 25, 2010
G:00 P.M.-BRYANAVENUE/JACKSON STREET (LITTLE
CANADA ROAD TO MAPLE LANE) RECONSTRUCTION;
6:45 P.M.-IONA LANE RECONSTRUCTION;
7:30 P.M.-SCHLETTYDRIVE (NORTH OFLITTLE CANADA
16
