MINUTES OF THE WORKSHOP MEETING <br /> CITY COUNCIL <br /> LITTLE CANAllA, MINNESOTA <br /> JANUARY 13, 2010 <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a workshop meeting of the City <br /> Council of Little Canada, Minnesota was convened on the 10th day of <br /> January, 2010 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515 <br /> Little Canada Road in said City. <br /> Mayor Bill Blesener called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. and the <br /> following members of the City Council were present at roll call: <br /> CITY COUNCIL: Mayor Mr. Bill Blesener <br /> Council Member Ms. Shelly Boss <br /> Council Member Mr. John Keis <br /> Council Member Mr. Milce McGraw <br /> Council Member Mr. Rick Montour <br /> ALSO PR)?SENT: City Administrator Mr. Joel R. Hanson <br /> City Clerk Ms. Kathy Glanzer <br /> <br /> INFORMATION Mayor Blesener indicated that the purpose of this evening's workshop <br /> UPDATE meeting is to conduct an information update with City staff. <br /> <br /> DEER "the City Administrator suggested that in considering future deer control <br /> CONTROL efforts, the Council may want to consider appointment of a committee to <br /> address this topic and made a recommendation to the Council. I{eis stated <br /> that he would support a committee process dependent on certain rules, one <br /> of which would be that deer control hunts not be open to the public Kcis <br /> felt that given the size of the City, this was not practical. He indicated that <br /> if deer control efforts are to continue, he would prefer that the Metro <br /> Bowhunters Resource Board be utilized. <br /> 'The City Administrator pointed out that there may be a benefit to allowing <br /> a public hunt on the Sculley property to assist in hunting on the adjacent <br /> Maplewood/County properties. The Administrator felt that there would be <br /> a lot of interest in private hunts, and suggested that if considered as an <br /> option, the Vadnais Heights criteria be reviewed. <br /> Blesener suggested that if such a committee is formed, it look at various <br /> types of wildlife control, i.e. goose control. Blesener also noted that the <br /> County is conducting a fly-over deer count, and once the City has those <br /> results, it will be able to better evaluate the deer problem. <br /> Keis stated that if a committee structure is used, those interested in serving <br /> on the committee may come from the two polarized ends of the issue.
