MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 10, 2010
The Council discussed this option and authorized City staff to pursue it
based on staffs recommendation that it was feasible for existing Little
Canada staff. The Finance Director indicated that any contract between
the two cities would include a termination clause that would provide for a
six month notice. The initial contract would be a two-year contract. The
City Administrator indicated that Birchwood would like Little Canada to
send out March bills. Staff would begin working with Birchwood as soon
as possible. He noted that the contract would likely be presented to the
City Council for approval at its February 24, 2010 meeting.
THUNDER The City Administrator reported that the Parks & Recreation Commission
BAY PARK would like to proceed with replacement of the wooden play structure in
Thunder Bay Park and for approval of the installation of a half basketball
court and some trail modifications for this area ($75,000 estimate). The
Administrator reviewed the Parks & Recreation Director's report on this
matter, pointing out that he believes that the Little Canada Recreation
Association may provide significant funding to aid in these improvements.
The Council discussed the status of the Capital Improvement Fund, noting
earlier discussion on the Fire Department ladder truck. The City
Administrator also pointed out that there are two other significant parks
and recreation needs, i.e. the trail crossing over railroad tracks on the west
side of the City ($137,000 estimate) as well as trail radius work ($65,000
estimate).
It was the consensus of the Council to continue discussion of this matter at
the regular Council meeting following this workshop.
There being no further business, the workshop meeting was adjourned at
7:32 p.m.
~
William Blesener, Mayor
Joel H~ nson, City Adminisriator
6
