Tt was built in 19'1'7 and still has many o#'the original conh•ols while some of
them have been upgraded as needed over the years. Tn recent years we have
experienced att increase in control problems at the booster station. We have ltad
some phantom alarms and our soft start controls haven't been shutting down
properly in some instances.
We spoke with two different control companies to determine what needed to be
done to have an up-to-date control panel that would eliminate many of the issues we
have been experiencing. A set of specifications was developed following those
meetings and both cmnpanies submitted proposals. 'T'he specifications include
tearing out the existing panel door and the control compmtents on it with the
exception of the Circular Chart Recorder, and removing the back chassis and ail of
its cotnponents. Anew door and back chassis will be installed along with all new
controls with current fiechnology.
T'he new controls will allow us to store historic tower level attd putnping
in#•ormation. We will have more control over the pumping operations and it will be
easier to set ptunping times to honor our agreement with Xcel Lnergy that states we
can only pump between 9:00 p.m. antl 9:00 a.m. 'There are ctu•rcntly three diffet•cut
pieces of equipment that need to be in sync to enstu•e proper pump rmnting times.
The uew controls will enable us to add some security features to the station. Sensors
can be added to alert us if there is an intrusion, a low temperature situation, ot• a
flood in the building.
