MINUTES OI• THE SPECIAL MEETING
CITY COUNCIL
LITTLE CANADA, MINNESOTA
APRIL 12, 2010
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a special meeting of the City
Council of Little Canada, Minnesota was convened on the 12th day of
April, 2010 in the Council Chambers of the City Center located at 515
Little Canada Road in said City.
Mayor Bill Blesener called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and the
following members of the City Council were present at roll call:
CITY COUNCIL: Mayor Mr. Bill Blesener
Council Member Ms. Shelly Boss
Council Member Mr. John Keis
Council Member Mr. Mike McGraw
Cow~cil Member Mr. Rick Montour
ALSO PRESENT: City Administrator Mr. Joel R. Hanson
City Engineer Mr. Lee Elfering
City Clerk Ms. Kathy Glanzer

IMP. NO. Mayor Blesener opened the Public Hearing to consider the extension of

201.0-14 sanitary sewer from the Kohlman Lane/Beam Avenue area to Gervais

NORTHEAST Woods development. This sanitary sewer improvement will provide
UTILITY service to the Himmelbach, Battista, Sculley, and Gervais Woods
CONNECTION properties.
The City Engineer provided some background information on the
proposed sanitary sewer improvement, reporCing that development
inquiries for several properties south and east of LaAore Road caused the
City to look at the area as a whole. Given that sanitary sewer service to
LaBore Road would require the installation of lift stations and that gravity
sewer was available through the Maplewood line in Kohlman Lane, this
sanitary sewer improvement is being proposed. The Engineer also noted
that the gravity sewer line was extended up to the area in question this
evening in 2008 when Kohlman Lane was reconstructed by Maplewood.
The Engineer reported that the proposed improvement calls for the
installation of gravity sanitary sewer from the existing main to the east of
the Battista property to the Gervais Woods development. Sanitary wyes
would also be installed in the mainline at assumed locations, but no
service pipe will be installed. The Engineer noted that the proposed sewer
line will provide future service to the Sculley, Battista, Himmelbach, and
Gervais Woods properties. Some of these properties ai•e not proposed for
development at this time. The Gervais Woods development is proceeding,
and there has been some interest expressed in developing the Sculley
property.
