MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 14, 2010
Tim Zarimbinski, President of the Little Canada Recreation Association,
also requested that the Council continue the limitation of allowing lawful
gambling by local organizations. Zarimbinski indicated that the local
organizations keep their profits in Little Canada and use them for the
betterment of Little Canada.
Blesener noted that he was on the Cowicil when the City had issues with
charitable gambling and he understands where the ordinance came from.
He agreed that without charitable gambling the City would likely not have
been able to purchase the land for Pioneer Park. Blesener noted the many
improvements that were made in the City as a direct result of charitable
gambling revenues, i.e. the Spooner Park shelter, the land for the fire
station, lighting the Pioneer Park ballfields, the recent addition of the
skateboard park Blesener noted the commitment the City just received
from LCRA to pay have the cost oP upgrading "thunder Bay Park.
Blesener felt that charitable gambling under the City's ordinance was
running fine, and indicated that he was not interested in amending the
ordinance.
Montour agreed, but indicated that if there are changes in the future and
gambling sites become available and there are no local non-profits to take
those sites, he would be open to considering the request to amend the
ordinance.
It was the consensus of the Council to let the City's Lawful Gambling
Ordinance stand as is.
CONSENT Mr. Montour introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
AGENDA
RESOL UTION NO. 2010-4-88 -APPROVING THE CONSENT
AGENDA WHICH CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING:
*APPROVING THE VOUCHERS;
*EXTENDING FINAL PLAT APPROVAL FOR WHISPERING
PINES UNTIL MAY 27, 2011;
*APPROVING THE 2010 SAFETY TRAINING CONTRACT WITH
SAFEASSUREAND AUTHORIZING THE CITYADMINISTRATOR
AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE THE CONTRACT ON BEHALF
OF THE CITY;
*ADOPTING THE ORDINANCE UPDATING THE CITY'S FEE
SCHEDULE AS RECOMMENDED BY CITY STAFF;
13
