<br /> MINUTES <br /> Parks & Recreation Commission <br /> May 6, 2010 <br /> OLD <br /> BUSINESS THUNDF,R BAY PARK 1MPKOVEMENTS STATUS <br /> Morelan stated he has ordered the playground equipment and the equipment should be <br /> delivered around the 24"' of May. <br /> Morelan reported that both the Little Canada Recreation Association and the city have voted <br /> to appropriate $37,500 each toward the cost of the Thunder Bay Park improvement project. <br /> Sanders will be meeting with the City Engineer to tie-in with another city asphalt project for <br /> the construction of the new trail and basketball cow•t. Adding this wor]< with a city project <br /> should give us the best pricing for this project. <br /> PIONEER PARK ENTRANCE ENHANCEMENTS/PLANTERS <br /> Sanders reported that the three planters will be utilized on the north side of the park entrance <br /> and will hold off with the building of the larger limestone planter on the south side at This <br /> time and will work with the plantings that are currently there. <br /> Morelan stated the city has approved $4,000.00 to be used for enhancing the entrance of <br /> Pioneer Park. He stated the only cost initially would be the pavers to set the planters on. <br /> "There may be future costs for the other side of the entrance. <br /> OTHER Morelan reported that the Arbor Day was very well attended with about 100-125 kids there. <br /> Little Canada Elementary had 4`~' a~1d 5°i graders and St. Johns School had their 3`d graders <br /> in attendance. There was a short program with songs by the students. They planted two <br /> Redmond Linden trees in Spooner Park by the trail leading to the tennis courts. Morelan said <br /> they used tree gator in•igation bags with the new trees that allow water to triclde down the <br /> trunk of the trees. Cookies and lemonade were served.
