<br /> MINUT)?S <br /> <br /> Parks & Recreation Commission <br /> <br /> June 3, 2010 <br /> Morelan reported the Friends of Gewais Creek and Pond did their spring cleanup on April <br /> 25, 2010 to coincide with the celebration of the 40`x' anniversary of Earth Day. They had <br /> eight people help with the cleanup and they collected six bags of trash. 'The Friends of <br /> Gervais Creek and Pond group has a website at FOGCAP.org. The Ramsey/Washington <br /> Metro Watershed employees picked up trash on their lunch how• on April 22 along the creek <br /> to the 35-E freeway. <br /> Rondeau Parlc had some work done last week with taking out the scrub trees and putting in <br /> the retaining ponds. These retaining ponds will provide drainage for the the Bryan a~~d <br /> .lackson Streets. <br /> Morelan reminded everyone of the Market Place Monling "Talk on Wednesday, June 9 that is <br /> having a presenter from the Golden Living Center Lake Ridge in Roseville talk about what <br /> to expect with a joint replacement. "They are giving a free blood pressure test from 8:45 to <br /> 920 a.m. with the presentation from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. <br /> Morelan asked if the commission would like to sponsor the tee Creatn Social again this year <br /> on the 'I"hursday night prior to Canadian Days on July 29'x'. In the past they have had three- <br /> 20 minute segments with presentations from the Ramsey County Canine l.Jnits, Little <br /> Canada Fire Department with the fire trucks on display and a Roseville Puppet Wagon <br /> show. They also usually have had a couple clowns passing out candy and balloons. <br /> Morelan stated that Commissioner Steinert has done the planning in the past and he will <br /> check with him to see if he would organize it again for this year. Slain said he would be <br /> available to help if needed. A&W has donated the root beer in the past and the city has <br /> purchased the ice cream to make the root beer floats for all attendees. <br /> Chair Fahey asked if the date of July 1 would interfere with anyone's travel plans for the 4`~' <br /> of July weekend. Since the holiday is actually on Sunday and will be recognized on <br /> Monday, it was determined the next commission meeting would be alright to be held on the <br /> regular meeting night of July 1. <br /> Morelan reported the I,CRA took the first of two groups of the youth baseball and softball <br /> teams to a MN Twins game recently and will take the other group in mid-July. <br /> City staff has been video taping the youth sport activities, striving to tape each team at least <br /> once for play-back on Channel 16. A video tape is also given to each visiting team and they <br /> use conunentators from both teams. <br /> Lolmaugh inquired about the use of the new scoreboard at Gilbertson Field on Eli Road. <br /> Morelan stated they now have a lock box For storage of the numbers so it will be used for all <br /> third, fourth and fifth grade games using that field. <br /> Morelan commented that the LCKA is sponsoring a youth girl's fast pitch tournament on <br /> June 5 & 6 for 11 through 14 year old girls.
