MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL

JULY 14, 201.0
FEEDING It was the consensus of the Council to prohibit the feeding of wild animals.
OF WILD
ANIMALS
CATS The City Administrator reported that thec have been issues over the past few
years with abandoned and feral cats. The impounding and boarding of these
cats, as well as euthanizing them, is costly to the City.
The Achninistrator also indicated that the City no longer requires cats to be
licensed, although several of the neighboring cities do. The Administrator
suggested that many dogs are not being licensed by their owners. One
suggestion is to require registration of dogs and cats, with no registration fee if
they are spayed or neutered. Another suggestion is to discontinue licensing
altogether.
It was the recommendation of the Council that City staff come back with a
comprehensive update of the City's animal ordinance for Council consideration.
There being no further business, the workshop meeting was adjourned at 9:45
p.m.
William ldle~ene ;Mayor
Atte t~.~-~-<d'c / ~--~--a-~-.~
Joel anson, City Administrator
12
