<br /> MINUTES <br /> <br /> CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> JULY 14, 20]0 <br /> equipment, and all future CUP's processed would not be specific The Council <br /> was in agreement that that was their intent and directed staff to proceed as <br /> outlined. <br /> Council then discussed off-street parking with the Administrator asking for the <br /> Council's consensus on the issue of moving van and semi-truck parking and <br /> whether or not these vehicles are considered permitted parking or outdoor <br /> storage. The Administrator noted that there are three provisions in the Code that <br /> talk about off-street parking of these commercial vehicles. In considering all <br /> three provisions together, it appears that up to 10% of a property can be used for <br /> commercial vehicle and trailer parking without a CUP or outdoor storage <br /> license. 'T'his would be outside the 60% outdoor storage areas that can be <br /> designated in rear yards The Council agreed that this was acceptable to them <br /> provided the vehicles and trailers are operational and licensed, etc. <br /> The Administrator noted that the Code currently allows freestanding signs <br /> within 600 feet of the intersection of a fi•eeway and arterial or collector street to <br /> be 30 feet in height regardless of building size. It was the consensus of the <br /> Council that this provision should be eliminated. The City Planner will prepare <br /> the appropriate ordinance amendment and present it to the Council for action at <br /> an upcoming meeting. <br /> The Cowrcil discussed whether or not Architectural Guidelines should be <br /> amendment to require some brick treatment on pylon signs, tying these signs <br /> architecturally to the building. The Council directed the City Planner to draft an <br /> appropriate amendment for their review. <br /> GEESE It was the consensus of the Council to proceed with geese management efforts <br /> as outlined in the City Administrator's report. <br /> TURKEYS The City Administrator reported that there have been comments received about <br /> turkeys in the City. Shoreview recently had problems with an overabundance of <br /> turkeys and attempted around-up but it was not successful. The recommend <br /> prohibiting feeding as the best solution. <br /> CHICKENS The Council discussed whether or not to amend the Code to allow the keeping of <br /> & PIGEONS chickens and pigeons. It was the consensus of the Council to not allow the <br /> keeping of chickens and pigeons. <br /> 11 <br /> <br />
